Impending Zombie Apocolypse

November 11, 2011

One of the reasons I love being the pastor of The Table is because the community consistently affords me a sense of freedom as a teacher. If The Table is your only church experience you might think that permission to explore big and even controversial topics in church is normal. In my experience, that isn’t necessarily the case, but it is something to be very grateful for! I don’t take it for granted.

Nor do I wish to take undo advantage of this privelege. However, this week I have decided to preach on the Zombie Apocolypse. Yep…it just felt like it was time to get into the heavy stuff. Enough fluffy teaching about reading the Bible in fresh ways, exploring what it means to faithfully blaze trails into issues of family, culture, sexuality and the following of Jesus. Time to seriously jump the tracks and meet the Zombies head on!

And we will talk about the previously planned topic as well, which is whether there might be a better way to think about the future and the end of time than the one that seems to have dominated North American Christianity for so long. Because we said we would.

See you on Sunday!

Peace,

Tim Plett
