Sept 22nd gathering
Listening to the survivors of this past week‘s bus crash in Ottawa, I was reminded that there are some life experiences that fall into the category of “this changes everything”. If there was a continuum of these sorts of events, with the news (spoiler alert!) that Santa isn’t real at one end to waking up immobilized in a hospital room with no knowledge of how you got there at the other, the stuff I would like to explore is probably, for most of us, in the middle. I want to continue to explore the small and insignificant topic I started on two weeks ago when we talked about the shape of the universe. In fact, it is my intent to explore the smallest parts of what we know about the universe, which have huge implications.
For some of us, the way we understand the universe we live in has a deep and conscious impact on how we think about God. For others, it might not feel all that relevant. Because I believe that the way we think about, talk about and believe in God has a great deal to do with what kind of world we think we live in, this sort of subject seems of tremendous importance and value. So I’m going to devote a bit more time to it this week.
Your part: roll out of bed, put your hipster knitted “big idea” cap on, and come to The Table on Sunday morning at 10:30 a.m. We’ll make some coffee to help the grey matter rev up, provide rain-free bike parking and a warm welcome, and some chewable ideas. The rest is up to you.
Peace,
Tim Plett
