Special Guests This Week – Socrates, Cornell West, and Andrew Doerksen!
Hey folks – we’re still at Frame for now, so join us at 10:30 a.m. at 318 Ross for what promises to be a most interesting exploration! Andrew Doerksen will be leading the charge. Here is his take on where we’ll be headed:
Directly translated from Koine Greek, the word “philosophy” means “love of wisdom”. With that in mind, tomorrow we’ll be taking on big ideas revolving around wisdom, truth and theology. Leading us into this philosophical territory is the highly respected philosopher and theologian, Cornel West. West gained a PhD from Princeton in 1980 and currently teaches philosophy and Christian practice at Union Theological Seminary in NYC.
We will get going by watching a short Cornel West clip from the documentary film “Examined Life”, titled after the famous Socratic imperative “The unexamined life is not worth living”. Moving on from there, we will be joined by a panel of spiritual thinkers that I deeply respect; Tim Plett, Trevor Williams and my good friend Phil Bshouty. Together we will try to unravel some of West’s thoughts and hopefully become more inspired towards a genuine love of wisdom.
Join us!
Andrew.
